On Wednesday, Aug. 12, Choose Chicago hosted its annual Partner Showcase at McCormick Place, bringing together more than 40 organizations for an afternoon centered on education, awareness, connection and relationship-building.
The showcase offered partners an opportunity to expand their networks, strengthen relationships with industry colleagues and discover more of what Chicago’s business and tourism community has to offer.
As Chicago’s official destination marketing organization, Choose Chicago plays an important role in connecting visitors, travelers and residents to the people, places and experiences that make the city unique. Its Partner Showcase brought that mission to life by creating a space where organizations could connect directly, learn from one another and explore new opportunities.
Guests arrived ready to get up close and personal with organizations they knew while discovering businesses they may have been experiencing for the first time. Throughout the event, attendees moved from booth to booth, asking questions, exchanging information and learning how different products and services could support their needs.

For Bear Icebox Communications, participating in the showcase was about more than simply getting in front of organizations that may one day need public relations, media relations, thought leadership, crisis communications, influencer relations, executive visibility or event publicity.
At its heart, the showcase was about connection — strengthening existing relationships and building new ones that could extend well beyond the event.
People do business with those they trust. And in a room filled with potential clients, collaborators and referral partners, simple introductions can lead to a meaningful relationship.
Our goal was to make every interaction meaningful — to see people, listen to them and create genuine connections. Whether that meant remembering an interaction from another event, recognizing an organization’s recent work or simply taking the time to understand what someone does, we wanted those who stopped by the Bear Icebox booth to know they were seen, heard and valued.

That same approach extended beyond our booth.
With meeting planners, hospitality and tourism professionals, restaurants, vendors, agencies and other Chicago businesses represented, the showcase created a natural environment for business development and relationship-building. Attendees sampled food from participating restaurants and experienced interactive technology, including AI-powered robots. I had the opportunity to see the power of innovation firsthand through a conversation with my new robotic friend — an interaction made possible by recent advancements in technology. Throughout the showcase, I also learned about the wide range of services and resources offered by organizations across various industries.
For the two Bear Icebox team members representing the agency, we were intentional about understanding who was in the room and identifying opportunities to connect with decision-makers and industry leaders. While we were there to exhibit and increase awareness of our own work, we were equally interested in learning what other partners were doing.
That exchange is what made the experience valuable.

Brand awareness isn’t built only through logos, signage or a well-designed booth. It is also built through conversations and the experience people have with your team.
The Choose Chicago Partner Showcase gave us the freedom to step beyond the booth, explore, listen and build relationships that can extend far beyond the walls of McCormick Place.
For Bear Icebox Communications, the day reinforced something at the center of our work: Visibility may open the door, but authentic connection is what helps build lasting relationships.
